Naomi Makes Pumpkin Cupcakes.
Its been a little while again since we posted a blog, we just moved house and have been without wifi so this lovely post was delayed. I wanted to share with you the brilliant bakes my daughter Naomi made for this autumn season. We are not great fans of halloween, but we do love to celebrate all things harvest and this is a lovely way to enjoy it.
In the past few months my Naomi has become quite the independent little baker so when she wanted to make pumpkin themed cupcakes I was happy to let her go ahead.
She made a tray full of delicious chocolate cupcakes using a basic sponge cake recipe, look at the rise she got on them!
She then created cute little pumpkins out of orange coloured Icing.
Look how sweet they look, each one made with a little stalk on the top which she coloured with brown food colouring.
Then Naomi discovered that I had gold edible glitter spray in my baking cupboard, so of course she had to use it. She topped each cake with chocolate butter icing the sprayed with gold.
And you have one lovely looking pumpkin themed cupcake, perfect!
Naomi had a lot of fun making these and although she needed little help from me they are a perfect thing to bake with younger children too. Children will have so much fun moulding and shaping their own pumpkins. Since we have almost missed this season sharing this post, you might also like to create berry topped cakes for a more Christmas themed cupcake, perhaps cut out some icing holly leaves,
Cakes like these don't last long in our house, but its a really lovely way to keep some simple harvest traditions without the the typical scary halloween theme. There is still plenty of Autumn splender around us throughout November so embrace this season and get baking before Christmas is truly upon us.
I hope you enjoyed this post and that it inspires you to get creative in the kitchen, Although it is a little late posting, I thought it was too lovely not to share.
Looking forward to sharing lots more with you over the coming weeks.
