August Magazine Reviews
Do you love getting new magazines each month? We at Mad fun creative love getting magazines and these will vary from fashion to home magazines. Each month Caroline and I get the kettle on and sit down to browse through the hundreds of pages reading about people, being inspired by places we want to visit, and of course looking out for the latest trends.
We also look out for any prints that I have designed for Sainsbury's, and will feature these in our blog. For me seeing a print design that I have worked on in a magazine is exciting. I like to read the reviews on the product, or how the magazine styles the product, whether it be a cushion or a print for fashion. Again its not all down to me, I work with a talented team at Sainsbury's in both Homeware and Fashion, making the print come alive by putting it on various products.
One of my favourite stories that I have worked on is 'Flower Market' a colourful floral trend celebrating british flower markets and garden shows. On our blog we have featured this trend in other posts as seen in the links below, so if you missed them go back and check them out.
Here Caroline reviewed the Candles in the floral print and also in another blog post:
So the Flower market trend was no surprise, when we saw it in various magazines for August, as we see Summer approaching for all things floral. You could not miss the 'Woman and Home' cover was a splash of Yellow featuring the lovely Anita Rani the presenter on Country file. This issue featured the Flower Market trend in the home, with the embroidery cushion and mugs, jug, plates, placemats and a tea towel.
'Style at Home' also had a double spread of this trend showing the Flower market on various products from bedding, which I personally love, to candles. The Patchwork quilt looks great and adds pattern to any room. And as already mentioned the scented jar candles make a great gift to. Another page featured the print on bunting which is playful whether its a room or in the garden for those summer tea parties.
Besides the 'Flower Market' trend, the 'Botanist' trend continues this summer with the tropical leafy look. I enjoyed painting these big leaves and seeing them translated on to cushions for the Garden. 'Good House Keeping' featured all things green this season with a page showing the cushions in a garden with the spot printed plates and and the Hexagonal latern which we actually bought and looks great in our lounge. Joanna Lumley looks great on the from cover here.
Last but not least 'Living Etc' which is definitely one of my favourite interiors magazines featured the Botanist Floor cushion in their Holiday Edit page.
I hope you are inspired with all these features and the lovely products from Sainsburys. The great thing is that they not expensive, and thats what I love about Sainsburys as they make High street products, but at Supermarket prices and the quality is great to. So why not pop in to your local store and get inspired. Watch out for future blogs on the Flower market trend as we will be reviewing the look on their cookshop range, which I saw yesterday in store and it looked amazing, and made me want to buy the cake tins and several other lovely items for the kitchen. So watch this space and I hope you all have a great weekend.
