Body Shop Treats
Do you ever take time out to give yourself a little treat? I know I don't do it enough, and as a busy Mum of three, it feels like I barely get a moment to indulge in a bit of me time.
Have you ever had one of those tearful moments as a Mum? where you feel overwhelmed, or just so busy, and all you would like to do is hide somewhere, where the kids won't find you, just for a moment whilst you get your thinking space.
I never forget a piece of advice given to me by a friend, it was in one of those baby filled, tired and overwhelmed days, that if you are a Mum you will have experienced. That advice was to remember 'SELF PRESERVATION'.
To be honest this advice has stuck with me since those early baby days, I find myself handing out the same words to other people, and not just Mum's, as its just so true, we all need self preservation at times.
To give yourself permission, to do something for yourself is such a freedom.
You might feel like you have no time to do this, but try to be proactive, to get the support in place to take time out, just for yourself. It may be that you have a friend who can support you, or a parent near by, or your partner. Plan to get 10 mins to an hour just for you.
When you take time for YOU, you will find that YOU are better for those around you, especially your children.
On a recent shopping trip I popped into 'The Body Shop' I hasten to add not for face masks, but hey we all need a few treats here and there. I was instantly drawn to these new facial masks, which had a prominent display as you entered the shop. I bought two because they were on an amazing deal that day. Ok I am a Marketing dream!
The first one is 'BRITISH ROSE, FRESH PLUMPING MASK'. It quenches with moisture, soothes and tones. It has an amazing fragrant scent and really does leave the skin feeling moisturised and refreshed. Its a gel mask and has been infused with real rose petals, it also contains rose hip oil, rich in omega 3 and 6 to restore skin's tone and also contains organic aloe vera, which calms and soothes skin. This treat is perfect for people who are prone to dryer skin.
The second mask I bought was 'HIMALAYAN CHARCOAL, PURIFYING GLOW MASK' this is a totally different type of mask from the first, it unclogs and refines pores and reveals a healthy glow. This mask is ideal if you are prone to a tiny bit of skin breakout, or slightly oily in the t zones like the chin, forehead and around your nose area. But it won't dry your skin out, it leaves it feeling silky smooth. I'd say its ideal for combination skin.
I use a brush to apply the mask from 'The Body Shop'. It goes on wet, but quickly dries across the face, drawing out all the dirt and impurities in the skin. Its kind of like a mud mask. You really feel like you are having a little spa treat at home. The smell of this mask is amazing!
Don't worry I didn't go out like this, or answer the door, now that would be a little scary. I just added a couple of cucumbers to the eyes and chilled with my cup of tea.
I love the Pukka brand of herbal teas, and I am especially enjoying this cleanse one at the moment, probably because I love fennel and my very favourite herbal tea is peppermint.
Check out the Pukka range in most supermarkets, I also love their packaging.
After leaving the mask on for up to 15 minutes you can wash it away gently, this takes some doing since its dried on your face, so I suggest you just dive in the shower for ease. Then you are left with a lovely smooth feeling skin, and a little more relaxed than you were before.
All refreshed and ready to enjoy the rest of my day.
I hope you get to take some YOU time this week, maybe a hair appointment, or a quiet coffee with your favourite new book, or magazine. Whatever it is, it does not have to be complicated, as long as its something just for you.
