Here's a splash of Yellow to brighten your Monday and your home inspiration.
As a Textile designer one of the things I find satisfying is seeing my design on a product wether it be fashion or homeware. In this months 'House Beautiful' supplement magazine titled '2016 Decorating trends' my geometric print for Sainsburys Homeware is featured. Seeing my designs featured in magazines is another very rewarding thing for me and it often takes me by surprise. I don't always know when or even if things will be featured, thats why I will always head to the news stand in the supermarket or newsagent and quickly scan and flick through all the magazines in case I spot something.
My design is the elongated Hexagon on the yellow ground on the lampshades and cushions.
I love the simplicity and understated aesthetic of Nordic design. This page reflects this with the use of the chevron bedlinen which compliments the Hexagon geometric lamps and cushions. I love the colour palette, the white, light grey and the yellow all work well to give any bedroom a fresh modern feel. Mixing up the different textiles from the warmth of the white and pale grey wool blanket and the grey cable knitted throw against the crisp cotton duvet adds depth to the look. I work with a great team at Sainsbury's who help to bring this look together and into store.
After reading this article, I thought I'd put my own inspiration page together showing this seasons trend for Geometric pattern. This story also runs through fashion, as seen in this months Vogue photo shoot titled 'Colour by Numbers'. I was first drawn by the yellow wall which reminded me how important Yellow is as a colour this season. I love the geometric pattern dress by Rag & Bone and the stripe bag by Prada working together to create a clash of prints that sit in synergy with each other.
I also found some great fabric designs at Hus and Hem a great website and shop, so if you are looking for Scandinavian inspired products for the home, as well as some accessories go to www.husandhem.co.uk
My favourite is the triangle design with the pop of orange, and if your looking for a vase this Geometric statement by Christiane Lemieux at House of Fraser would look great in any room to capture that geometric look.
I hope you found this article inspiring and I would love to hear your comments and what trends or ideas you are planning to decorate your home with. I will also be posting a blog on some of my photographs using the colour Yellow..... until then happy decorating.
